Parts of Guitar


  1. Guitar Head or HeadStock - Guitar Head is the TOP part of your guitar where the Machine head or the tunig pegs are located. This place is usually used to attach the electronic tuners to tune your guitar. The length of the note sound is usually depends on the bend angle of your guitar Head. 
  2. Tuning Pegs - These are the small metal pieces attached to your guitar head. These can twist and which in turn moves the machine head clockwise and anticlockwie. The 6 strings are attached to the tuning pegs and using these you can tighten the strings thus bringing them into tune. Always ensure that before playing guitar, your guitar strings are in tune. 
  3. The Nut - Guitar nut is the at the bottom end of the Guitar headstock. Its the white or the black piece which seperates the guitar neck and the head. It is used as a guide for the guitar strings and also controls the tone of the guitar.
  4. The Neck - This is the long wooden piece which is attached between the head and the body of the guitar. 
  5. The Strings - There are 6 metal strings with different width attached on guitar between the guitar bridge and guitar head. When you strum or pick any striings it generates the sound or a note. 
  6. The Bridge - Bridge holds the one end of the guitar strings and is situated just after the sound hold on the guitar body. This maintains the heigh between the guitar strings and fretboard. This words same like the nut. The strings are suspended between the guitar nut and the bridge.
  7. The Bridge Pins - It anchors the strings to the bridge and secure the position. 
  8. The Saddle - The white piece usaully a hard piece of plastic sits on the guitar bridge and holds the strings in their right position. 
  9. The Fretboard - The fretboard is the long wooden piece sits on the nect of the guitar..
  10. The Frets - Fretboard is devided into frets by the fretbars. When the string over the frets are pressed it produces a note. Frets are the markers to play any specific note. If the strings are tuned properly then pressing the string over the specific frets always produces the same note or the sound.
  11. The Fretbard - These are the metal strips that devides the fretboard into frets. Each fret is at an interval of 1 semitone.
  12. The body - The body of the guitar gives its shape. The size of the guitar body and the shape determines the sound of the guitar. There are difference types of guitars depending upon the shape and size of the body of the guitar.
  13. The Guitar Hole - This is the big round hole on the body of the acoustic guitars. When you play the strings it produces the sound or the note which in turn amplifies through the gutar hole. The guitar hold words as an acoustic amplifier. Be careful, you usually drop your pick while playing and it becomes a daunting task to take the pick out of the guitar body unless you are sure about it. 
  14. The Pick guard - This is the protective plate made up of plastic material that sits just below the guitar hold. It is used to protect the guitar body from getting scratches while you play the strings using the guitar pick
